Shirenewton Primary School

Shirenewton, Chepstow,

Monmouthshire,

NP16 6RN.

Mr. Steve King,  ICT Coordinator of Shirenewton Primary School said when asked about his school's website:

"We have tried to create a channel for 2 way information between home and school which is so much more than the 'obligatory' prospectus and a few photos.

All aspects of school life are reflected in the site which exists to communicate & develop the school vision of 'Together We Make A Difference'. It is easily accessible and a very useful and practical learning resource both in schooland at home.

All the children in the school now have access to the site. It has clearly communicated 'what we're about' to parents, the local community and the local & national area."

"Children use many of the extensive list of links and reinforcement activities in lessons and at home to reinforce work and develop understanding. It is a noticeboard, communication channel and learning tool which inspires and enthuses pupils to do their best and further their understanding.

I think this (schools.ik.com) is by far the best web authoring software/tool I have ever seen or used.
I have spent many an hour FTPing web pages to various webspace, this tool is very simple, very easy to use and very efficient.

One of the great beauties is that it is easily explained to pupils who are responsible for creating, maintaining and uploading much of the site on a regular, ongoing basis.

A fantastic piece of kit!"

"We have tried to make this site 'by the kids for the kids' as well as for an adult audience. The home page is simply laid out for easy use and all pages are 1 click away from the home page. There aren't too many flashing pictures. I wanted to make the site accessible to the very young children in our school as well as exciting for the eldest Year 6s. I think we've done that and I think that the parents (for example) see the great benefits of many of the opportunities (such as downloadable forms and homework) which we have worked into the site."
