Lent Rise Combined SchoolFINALIST - BEST SCHOOL WEBSITE

Lent Rise Combined School
Coulson Way, Burnham
Buckinghamshire
SL1 7NP

Mrs. Brenda Bigland, Head Teacher of Lent Rise Combined School said when asked about her school website:

"Training to create and maintain a website was given to all members of staff as part of a continuing development programme. It is now driven by every member of staff with great pride and enthusiasm to the point that the Early Years Manager has created a link to an Early Years site and the Healthy Schools Manager has also created an associated site for the work the school does for the Healthy School standard.

The children love watching this site and we have generated some lovely ideas that other schools are interested in e.g. Parent Partnership initiatives like Lenny the Lent Rise Robot who goes home with a different family each week so that they can create the stories of Lenny's adventures in Burnham which are then published on the site.

We have even purchased a digital camera for parents to use at week ends so you will find illustrated stories on the site."

"The website aims to share good practice with other schools so we are currently putting policy documents on the site for professionals to share.

There have also been lots of lovely comments from people who have visited the site and who now keep in contact with the children through this medium including a mother of one of our teachers who lives a fair distance away!

Our year 6 pupils have also found it a great way
to keep in touch.

Parents use it to ask questions and prospective parents and applicants for jobs in the school have loved it. In fact, I am convinced that the number of applicants for teaching posts has trebled since we have a site which so powerfully and proactively portrays the ethos of our school. Why not look and judge for yourselves?"
